I have been working in collage since 2015, while continuing to create bespoke decoupage backgammon boards and other original works of decoupage for individual and corporate commissions.
The transition from the decorative arts to a form of expression allowing a greater degree of freedom has enabled me to develop a unique aesthetic informed by the use of found images. Many of my collages encompass a narrative element evoking a sense of world travel and mystery delving into the surreal. The juxtaposition of disparate elements creates depth and texture with the many separate cutout pieces interacting to shift figure and ground, establishing multiple planes.
I am continually inspired by early 20th century artists Picasso, Braque, Matisse, Schwitters – and mid-20th century master, Joseph Cornell.
